The Great Human Race is a new series produced by National Geographic Studios, which follows the path of human evolution from our origins 2.5 millions years ago in the horn of Africa all the way to the beginning of the first civilizations in the American Pacific Northwest. The series premieres in February 2016 and will air internationally on the National Geographic Channel.
I was associate field producer on episodes shot on location in Tanzania, Ethiopia, Turkey, Mongolia and the US – my responsibilities included developing and refining the script with the director, sourcing complex and historically accurate props and materials, scouting locations, managing schedule for a crew of 20+, directing scenes, supervising shoot budget, producing stills and hot sheets, and fact checking on set.
The above production stills are shot by me. Read more about the series and watch clips here.
