MOUNTAIN QUEEN: THE SUMMITS OF LHAKPA SHERPA


Mountain Queen: The Summits of Lhakpa Sherpa, directed by Lucy Walker, tells the remarkable story of Lhakpa Sherpa who, as a girl denied an education, concealed her gender to work in the mountains. She became the first Nepali woman to summit Everest before immigrating to the US where she’s raised children as a single mother and climbs in pursuit of a better life. A team of dedicated filmmakers and scientists document the world’s healthiest orca population in the Norwegian Arctic to help protect it from oil exploration. Echoes in the Arctic premiered at the 2020 Tribeca Film Festival. Roles: Co-director, Producer

With Stept Studios I directed a short film about composer and conservationist Jess Kilroy who makes music using natural sounds recorded in wilderness areas to bring awareness to the importance of protecting these wild open spaces. The Creek Sessions is a sensory meditation on her process, encouraging us to tune into the sounds of the wild that we often take for granted. The film premiered at 2019 Mountainfilm Festival.

SWEETLAND CANDIES

I told the heartfelt story of century-old family business Sweetland Candies for Facebook for Business in collaboration with Stept Studios. The Naums are third-generation immigrants who have weathered many eras of challenge to create a thriving local candy store. This was part of a five-part series highlighting how Facebook helps support small businesses. Role: Director

DAILY 360 – SYDNEY’S ORIGINAL INFINITY POOLS

Spend a little time in Sydney and you’ll soon realize its ocean pools are a landmark at locale. They have a long history in NSW as segregated baths but now open to the public for anyone to enjoy Sydney’s waterfront. I shot this 360 virtual reality experience for The New York Time’s newly launched Australian bureau.

DAILY 360 – SYDNEY’S WAKE UP SWIM

As part of the launch of the Australian bureau of The New York Times, I shot this 360 virtual reality experience of one of Sydney’s most beloved morning rituals – the daily Bold and the Beautiful swim between Manly and Shelly beaches. The swim started a decade ago when a few friends decided to make the mile-long coastal paddle and turned it into a daily event. Now, hundreds of locals start their day this way.
